Hanging witch hats from your porch ceiling is a great way to add a magical whimsey to your Halloween porch decor. They’re very affordable and super easy to install. My son and I can show you how in just a few simple steps.

The first thing you’ll need is a package of witch hats. I got my 8-pack from Amazon and you can even find them discounted if you wait a little closer to the holiday or shop after Halloween and save even more for next year’s decor.

I ordered THIS PACK on October 28th and they arrived on October 30th, just in time for me to hang them for trick-or-treaters. Since it’s so late in the season, I save 40% off and got all 8 for only $5.99 on Prime. The price may have changed since I wrote this blog post but be sure to keep checking to see if they get discounted again.

Next up, you’ll need a few extra supplies. I use fishing line to hang my hats and command strips to hang them from the ceiling. You’ll also need some rubbing alcohol and cotton balls to clean the area you’re going to stick the command hooks from. You’re also going to need a needle to string your fishing line though the hat.

To hang your witch hats from porch you’ll need to:

  1. Thread the fishing line on the needle and knot the end. I double over my fishing line to have added weight to hold the witch hat down. They are super light and move easily in the wind.
  2. Thread it through the top of the hat and cut the needle off the end.
  3. Measure how long you want your witch hat to hang, then knot and cut off the extra line.
  4. Clean off the ceiling with rubbing alcohol where you’re going to attach the command hook and let dry.
  5. Attach adhesive to back of hook and let sit for 4-5 minutes to secure the bond.
  6. Hang command hook and then hang witch hat.
  7. Loop fishing line around hook multiple times to ensure the wind won’t blow them down.

Pumpkins After Dark: Cute Ways to Illuminate Your Halloween Front Porch

Hello Love!

Today I wanted to share with you my super cute Halloween front porch. Decorating my porch is one of my favorite things, and fixing it up for Halloween is always my favorite.

I buy new corn stalks every year but everything else has been recycled over the past few years. I painted these faux pumpkins a few years ago to give them a more natural look and the metal luminaries and buckets came from the gift shop I owned years ago. They were collecting dust in my attic, so I threw them on my porch one year and have been doing it ever since.

I use to buy real mums and other fall flowers but since it stays so warm here in Tennessee in the fall, they usually don’t last long. This year I decided to just buy faux floral stems for the metal buckets and they turned out great. You can totally tell they’re fake up close but from the road, no one will ever know.

The cornstalks are always my favorite part of the porch. They just add so much height and texture. I absolutely love them.

When it comes to lighting my porch for Halloween, I use three different types of lights.

First off, I adore these resin light-up pumpkins I’ve had for years. I’m pretty sure they came from Homegoods like 10-15 years ago and they’re still great. If I could find them again, I would buy more and line all my steps with them.

Here are some similar styles: HERE, HERE, and HERE.

Second up is fairy lights. I love the simplicity of fairy lights, don’t you? For a few bucks, you can add so much whimsy.

Lastly are my metal luminaries. They’re made to look like paper sandwich bags but these have lasted me years. I add battery-operated tea lights to them and they flicker and glow like real candles. They look so cute lining the stairway.

These particular ones are no longer available but THESE  and THESE are similar!
