Hello love!
I wanted to take you all on a little diffuser tour of my house today. You all know I'm a lover of Young Living and I wanted to show off some of my favorite diffusers I use, both YL brand and others and how they're decorated with.

The beautiful white lantern above is from Young Living and I love it because, like most YL diffusers, it has multiple output settings and color choices. My favorite is the candle flicker mode as it gives the ambiance of a real lantern. As a YL member I save 24% off every YL purchase by being a wholesale member. If you're interested in purchasing a Young Living starter kit I would love to help you get started. Click this link to get started!

This beautiful wood & glass diffuser, the Aria, is my favorite in the house. She was splurge but worth every single penny. It matches so many different rooms in my house but I keep her in the kitchen because that's the room I'm mostly in. It can be purchased alone or with a starter kit.
This beautiful white diffuser is called the Desert Mist and it's also from Young Living. It features the same output and color modes as the lantern but comes in this pretty mosaic pattern. I can be purchased alone or along our $165 wholesale kit.

I recently purchased this adorable macrame cover that fits nicely over the diffuser to give it a little bohemian look. You can get it HERE.
The first diffuser I ever received was the Dewdrop, this two-toned diffuser, that came with my very first starter kit. Mine has a green base but it's since been changed to a gray base as to match more homes. It can also be purchased alone or with a kit.
Last, but not least is my favorite non-Young Living diffuser. I snagged this adorable gold one a few months ago and it looks so cute in my daughter's pink and gold room

At a price point of only $22, it's a steal and perfect for anyone needing a 2nd diffuser after getting a starter kit.
Numerous places carry diffusers now but know, not all are created the same.
I picked up this little white one from TJ Maxx last year and it definitely was not worth the $20 I spent on it. It does work but I have to hit the ON button around 20 times for it to finally stick to put out the mist. It's quite the pain in the rear end. My mama always told me, "You get what you pay for!".

As always, feel free to ask questions or leave comments below!

How I decorate my home with baskets

Friday, May 1, 2020

Hello Love!
As a long time basket lover, I thought I would take you on a little home tour today on how I use my Longaberger baskets to both decorate my home and use them to store things.
I love to bunch and stack them together to make a grouping in areas where I need height and texture, like above my kitchen cabinets or just to fill in bare spaces, like under my coffee table.
While they look beautiful to display, they're also incredibly functional. They've been a complete game changer when it comes to organizing my house. I've used them in my closet to hide things like belts and scarves, in my laundry to hold cleaning supplies and sewing notions, and in my pantry to keep all the food categories neat and tidy.
And then I use them for simple decorations around the home.
So, are you a basket lover like me?

Longaberger and Dresden & Co. baskets are wonderful to display and use around your house.
If you find they're a little out of your price range, don't forget to look at eBay, antique stores, and flea markets for some good deals!

5 things that make me happy

Tuesday, April 28, 2020

Hello Love!
Um, 2020 is so weird. Like, really weird.
Who would have thought we'd ever be in quarantine in the year 2020. Definitely not me.
Being a full-time work-at-home mom and having 3 children at home 24/7 has by far been the most challenging thing I've had to go through and most days I pretty much pass out as soon as the sun goes down.
That being said, I've had to find ways to keep my sanity since I'm home all day and can't venture out anywhere...AND SHOP.
Man, I miss shopping.
Anyways, here's a few things that have been such a blessing lately.

1. Outlander
G U Y S.
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram YOU KNOW that I love me some Outlander.
And I love it πŸ‘πŸ»allπŸ‘πŸ»theπŸ‘πŸ»ways.
I started off watching it on TV but now I'm digging deep into the books and it's just the thing I need to transport my mind away from my computer and all those freaking dishes in the sink.
I recently bought books 1-5 in paperback AND on my Kindle AND audiobook.
Why did I buy them in all the versions?
Because I'm a Sassenach freak, that's why.
I got the actual books from Target and they were a great deal. I got the first 4 books in a set of 4 HERE and then each of the other 4 books separately (5, 6, 7, 8).
If you're a reader, get the books. If you're more of a tv gal, WATCH THE SHOWS.
I'm not going to promise you won't fall in love with James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser.
2. My Brooke Ring inspired painting
A few weeks ago my girls and I signed up for Brooke Ring's virtually painting class and we had a blast! Even though I chose colors that didn't really go with my house, it makes me incredibly happy every time I look at it.
If you're interested in taking on of her classes, she hosts a new one every month or you can purchase her previous lessons HERE.
3. Snail mail
Old fashion snail mail is one of my absolute favorite things and the past few weeks I've been sending lots of goodies to my team members. Surprise gifts and fun postcards to lighten their day.
After my cousin Angela showed her new vertical garden HERE from GreenStalk Garden, I knew I had to have one. It hasn't even come in yet but I'm completely giddy just thinking about it. I really got it for my 9 year old because she's ALL about gardening right now and she's going to love having this.
If you're interested in starting your own use code SHAWAVENUE and you can get $10 off any tower! Grab it HEREhttp://lddy.no/gktg
Psssssst...this would make a fabulous Mother's Day present!

Never in my life would I EVER have thought that a piece or workout machinery would make me happy but here we are.
2020, you are weird.
I ordered this baby for my wedding anniversary present and I love it more and more each day.
PRAISE DA LORT that I got this during quarantine because there ain't NO WAY I'd be fitting into my summer clothes if I didn't have it.
For $150, it's been the best thing I've purchased in a long time.
What are some things that are making you happy right now? Let's chat below!

5 of my favorite things to pick up at antique stores

Tuesday, April 21, 2020

antique stores, antiquing, farmhouse decor, farmhouse, longaberger, longaberger baskets, old quilts, how to style, how to, wood shelving, home decor, farmhouse kitchen, country kitchen, country chic, mason jars, aqua mason jars, pyrex, pyrex collection, basket collection, baskets,
Hello Love!

Going to antique stores is one of my favorite ways to spend a weekend. My girls and I will grab my mom go around Chattanooga one or twice a month and hit all of our favorite spots. Be sure to FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM so you can follow along on all our adventures!

Today I thought I'd share with you 5 of my favorite home decor pieces I love to pick up while I'm scavenging.

1. Baskets
I love nothing more than a good quality basket. My mom collected Longaberger baskets years ago and filled our house with them. Once I got married and moved out, I did the same, using them to both decorate and to store things away from sight.

Longaberger sadly went out of business a few years ago but I love to pick them up at great prices at antique stores and thrift shops.

If used baskets aren't your thing, have no fear! A former Longaberger employee started a new basket company in Dresden, Ohio and was able to hire many of the Longaberger employees back. So great, right?! I recently became a Dresden & Co. Proprietor and love that I get to spread the word about this amazing company, located right in the heart of Ohio.

I love me a good MADE IN THE USA product!

If you're interested in shopping for a new basket, shop my website HERE!

2. Mason jars
When we built our current house, we went with countertops that had a hint of blue in them. After finding a few aqua mason jars at a shop, I knew I wanted to display them in the kitchen. Along with my teal pyrex collection, they add the perfect pop of color. These can be on the pricy side but I only buy them when I find them under $5.

3. Crocks
These are a great way to display things from artificial & dried flowers to using them to hold kitchen utensils.
These can be a little pricy so hold out until you find a good deal. I've never paid more than $20-30 for one.
4. Wood pieces such as frames, ladders, and windows

I'm a sucker for any old, chippy wood items. From tobacco baskets to old windows, I love have earthly elements all around the house.
Here are some of my favorite pieces.
When I find architectural pieces in antique stores, I try to think out of the box on how to display and use them in my house. I found these old printer stamp drawers and decided to hang them in my laundry room to display all my essential oils.
I also found an old box with shelves that I use to keep my old magazines.
5. Old quilts
Now, this collector piece can be a little on the pricy side, as some quilts can be hundreds of dollars but every now and then you can find a VERY well-loved one for a great price. I don't mind pieces that have a little damage to them as I like to display my favorites in my old ladder, as seen below.

At the time that I'm writing this, we're currently on stay-at-home orders due to the Covid-19 (Corona virus) outbreak. Since we haven't been able to leave our homes for non-essential trips in almost 6 weeks, I've been shopping in my attic for old decor pieces that haven't been out in a while. I found another crock with artificial flowers, a wood display piece, and many other things that I can use to give my spaces a fresh look.

As always, feel free to leave questions or comments below! I'd love to chat with you!

Oily Avenue // How I clean my fabric face masks

Monday, April 20, 2020

Hello love!
If you're like me and you don't leave your house without your face mask, this is my secret trick to keep them clean.
Obviously I don't wash it every time I wear it so to keep it free from germs and smelling great, I give each side a little spritz of my Thieves spray. I keep it handy in my purse so even between stops, if I have to touch the mask for any reason, I can spray it and feel better that I'm not spreading anything.

If you're looking for cute, handmade masks check out my friends Amy Anne Apparel and Daisy Faye Designs!
To grab a bottle (or three) of Thieves spray, find it HERE.

Decorating A Girl's Room On A Budget
Hello Love!
Today I'm going to give you a quick tour of my baby's bedroom makeover. It had previously been decorated with her sister's hand-me-down bedding and decor pieces but after Christmas we decided that it was time for her to have a fresh new look in her room. She found a photo of a bedroom on Pinterest that she loved and went off it for our color scheme.

Most of the items came from Hobby Lobby and we snagged them all 40-50% off. Her comforter and pillows all came from Tuesday Morning, Ross, or Homegoods.

We couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

DIY Stain Stick using 5 clean, non-toxic ingredients
 Hello Love!
On my IG stories this week I showed a quick DIY recipe to make a stain stick rollin using Young Living products. I'm thrilled with how it turned out and a shoutout to Becca Bristow for the recipe.

Materials:
1 - 30ml roller from Amazon
5 drops Thieves oil
10 drops lemon oil
Equal parts Thieves Household Cleaner & Thieves Laundry Soap

Drop oils in roller first, then fill 1/2 way with laundry soap then THC.

That's it! Quick and easy to help get spots out of clothes. Also, grab an old toothbrush to help get set-in stains out better.

Oily Avenue // How we boosted my husband's testosterone levels 100 points using natural products πŸš€

Tuesday, March 3, 2020

Like almost every other oily husband, it took a while for mine to come around to believing it all. However, after many routine physicals with the fire department, Jas' testosterone levels were dropping at a pretty alarming rate, as is the case with most firefighters. After being told that if his numbers dropped any lower in the fall of 2018 he would likely be put on synthetic medications, we knew we had to try something.

Idaho Blue Spruce was the #1 suggestion but it had been out of stock for months so we started him on two different supplements, Sulferzyme and PowergizeNingxia Red, and Northern Lights Black Spruce oil (an alternative for Idaho Blue Spruce) rolled every night on the inner ankle. A little after two months of starting them he went and had his levels checked again. Before the results even came back the nurse pretty much insisted he go ahead and start the meds...BEFORE the results even came back guys.

We had boosted his testosterone levels by 100 points. πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Oily Avenue // Ditching and switching items in the laundry room

Saturday, November 2, 2019 Chattanooga, TN, USA

If I could go back in time I would tell a much younger Jenn two things:
1. Buy nothing but white bed sheets and towels. They're so much easier to keep clean and they'll match any room.
2. STOP BUYING DRYER SHEETS! It makes me sick to my stomach to think about how those common household items I was using was affecting his lungs and how just switching them out for cleaner products improved his health. #knowbetterdobetter I mean, have you ever researched the chemicals in detergent and dryer sheets? I couldn't wait to use up what I had and switch to Thieves Laundry Soap and wool dryer balls. This 32oz bottle can be diluted down to 3 bottles, instead of one since it's super-concentrated and the dryer balls last forever! It’s one of the easiest and most cost-effective changes you can make in your home and the health benefits ARE SO WORTH IT!

What’s your favorite oil to put in your dryer? We love Purification (to get out smells) and Citrus Fresh!

Grab your Thieves Laundry Detergent HERE and my favorite wool dryer balls HERE!
