Packing my bags for a weekend getaway

Monday, May 21, 2018

Hello Love!
Can you believe it's finally summer time? School is out, the weather is amazing, and we're all giddy to be getting ready for vacation!

It may surprise you, but I am not your typical fashion blogger when it comes to packing my luggage for a trip away from home.  Being a mom of three kids, my hands are pretty full, all the time. From three sets of electronics, to books, and just stuff in general, I have a lot to keep track of on a daily basis.  When it comes to getaways, both short and long, the less I pack, the better.

There's a funny meme that I see floating around on my IG and Facebook all the time where a girl goes somewhere for 3 days and packs 35 outfits.  That's not how I roll.

My Monogrammed Essential Travel Bag and matching Train Case from Marleylilly are my best travel buddies.  They've been with me to Boston, Ohio, Los Angeles, Gatlinburg, and will travel with me soon to Florida and Nashville for our summer trips. What I love most about these bags is that they're just small enough to be carry-ons when we travel by plane. I couldn't love these two bags more.

My newest travel bag is my Palm Paradise Beach Tote.  This huge bag was great for carrying all our other necessary travel things like our heavy jackets and my beloved Abrazo Designs essential oil diffuser carrying case. This bag is currently packed and ready to go with all of our beach towels and bathing suits for the beach!

No trip is complete without a great pair of cozy pajamas and there are none better than from Royal Highnies. I found this fabulous brand while vacationing in 30A a few years ago and I've been in love with them ever since.  I also love that they're local to me!

Two duffle bags for a family of five is pretty darn good, huh?!

Hello Love!
Isn't coming home from the beach completely depressing?
The salty air, the cool ocean breeze, and the sounds of crashing waves just soothe my soul and I try to soak up every glorious minute of it while we're there.
We go to Daytona Beach, FL every year and we love it.
We have secret little beaches were we go to avoid the crowds, favorite seafood restaurants where we stuff our faces full, and a hotel that we completely adore.

Alright, let's get down to business.
Now that my kiddos are older, we no longer have to drag all kinds of sand toys and crap down to the beach. Now, I can pack my own goodies to just sit there and soak up the goodness.
1.) A good tote bag.  I scored that amazing Spartina449 Mermazing tote while I was down in Daytona at a cute little gift shop. It's made of vinyl so it was super easy to clean the sand out of everyday and had a separate pouch to hold my keys and phone to keep them sand-free.  It's almost sold out too! Find it here and here!  We also carry mesh seashell bags (like these) to carry all our treasures in!
2.)  I forgot my trusty Tervis at home so we picked up this adorable Florida Starbucks tumbler while shopping the Boardwalk. Y'all know i'm a sucker for flamingos...
3.) I also forgot my trusty Chaco flip flops to wear down in the sand so I had to take my pineapple Lilly Pulitzer sandals down with me.  I was afraid they would be ruined after wearing them all week, but they've held up perfectly...I still won't take that chance again.  Don't forget to pack some good waterproof flops!
4.) A beautiful beach towel.  I scored this lovely one from BuckheadBetties and I LOVE the fabric it's made of.  And those colors? SWOON!
5.) The perfect beach cover-up.  I originally bought one of those terry cloth, zip-up moo moo things but then thought, no! Just throw on a Lilly! Duh!
6.) A good book...well, this is a no brainer.

Of course, there are many other things i could tote down to the sandy beach with me but with three kiddos following along, it's enough to get us through!
What can't you live without?

Easy travel packing tip!

Hello Love!
Packing for a trip is my LEAST favorite thing to do.  Getting everything ironed and ready to go takes me forever and it's never easy getting the 5 of us ready.  I found this little trick on Pinterest a year or two ago that makes my life a lot easier.  I get the big one gallon ziplock baggies and put the children's clothes for the whole day in them.  Underwear, socks, top, bottom, and hair accessory, all ready to go!
EASY PEASY!
Try it next time you go on vacation!
No more mismatched outfits. No more suitcases torn apart.
Simple. Clean. Done!
You're welcome mommas!
