If you’re looking to save money on your Christmas and Holiday decor, go thrifting or antiquing!

Thrifting Home Decor For Christmas

Hello Love!

Antiquing and thrifting are one of my favorite ways to find unique items for my home and save money in the process. If these treasures could tell their stories, I would listen all day.

My home Christmas decor is a good mix of new and old so I thought I would share some of the typical pieces I look for at antique stores and thrift shops.

Thrifting Home Decor For Christmas

Old Silver

First up, silver pieces. You cannot go wrong with classic silver pieces, whether it’s platters, utensils, or urns/vases. HERE’S an amazing blog post from The Shabby Tree showing off how she usues silver items in her home.

Crystal or Glassware

Next up is crystal or glassware. There’s nothing more beautiful than beautiful glassware or crystal stemware on a decorated dining table for the holidays. Stemware is great for adults to use and crystal punch bowls are perfect for a yummy party punch.

Christmas Colored Quilts or Blankets

This one may be my favorite recommendation. Beautiful quilts. Hang them over the back of your couch, display them on a ladder, or wrap them around the bottom of your Christmas tree to give your room a pretty vintage look. Isn’t that blanket gorgeous?!

Thrifting Home Decor For Christmas

Vintage Cookie Cutters

Vintage cookie cutters are great for many reasons. Display them in a bowl or hang them from a small kitchen Christmas tree, as well as using them to make baked goods or ornaments. They’re so versatile!

Thrifting Home Decor For Christmas

Wooden Boxes

This next one can really be used all year long. Grab an old wooden planter box next time you see one to display things like dishes and towels or just simply fill it with greenery for your kitchen table. These make great centerpieces! Similarly are wooden toolboxes that can be used the same way.

Winter Art

You can’t go wrong with winter paintings to display for the Holidays. I love pieces like this that can be used all winter long and for $25?! What a steal!

Thrifting Home Decor For Christmas

Old Table Linens

Lastly, look for vintage table linens, whether it be tablecloths or napkins, these are so beautiful to display during the most magical time of the year.

4 Ingredient Fall Trail Mix. This perfect mix of sweet and salty trail mix is quick and easy to make. It’s a family favorite!

4 Ingredient Fall Trail Mix

Hello Love!

Today I’m going to share with you a quick and easy trail mix recipe that my mom made all the time when I was growing up. It was the perfect mix of sweet and salty and simply delicious. Jump to Recipe

4 Ingredient Fall Trail Mix

All you need is a jar of salted/lightly salted peanuts, 1 box of raisins, 1 bag of chocolate morsels, and 1 bag of butterscotch morsels.

4 Ingredient Fall Trail Mix

I always recommend getting salty/lightly salted peanuts. You need that little bit of salt to balance out the sweetness.

4 Ingredient Fall Trail Mix

I know a lot of people don’t love raisins but when they get covered in a little salt from the peanuts it’s ::chef’s kiss::!

4 Ingredient Fall Trail Mix

Chocolate chips are a must but if you’re not a lover of butterscotch, it’s easy to swap these out for white chocolate or even peanut butter morsels.

4 Ingredient Fall Trail Mix

Fill you container with equal amounts of each ingredient and shake, shake, shake!

4 Ingredient Fall Trail Mix

So easy and delicious! I hope you love this recipe as much as I do!

How To Paint Artificial Pumpkins

How To Paint Artificial Pumpkins. Take those store-bought faux pumpkins and make them look more natural with this simple DIY project.

How To Paint Artificial Pumpkins

Hello Love!

November is officially here and while I’m starting to get the Christmas decor itch, I still have a few more fall posts to share with you before we get into full Christmas mode.

How To Paint Artificial Pumpkins

If you read THIS POST about my Halloween porch, you read that this year I used all faux florals and faux pumpkins for my display so that I could cut costs and reuse everything next year (except for the corn stalks).

How To Paint Artificial Pumpkins

Realistic-looking pumpkins weren’t easy to find this year without a hefty price tag so I thought I would buy cheaper ones and make them look more natural. I have lots of extra paint and paintbrushes from other projects so I was able to cut costs there. THESE PUMPKINS on Amazon are a great price if you’re more of an online shopper.

How To Paint Artificial Pumpkins

I probably should have used some sandpaper to roughen the pumpkins a bit but I decided to try it normally first and see if it worked well enough. I think they turned out pretty great without it but I may try sanding them down if I make more next year.

How To Paint Artificial Pumpkins

First, I went in with the brown paint to emphasize the grooves and crevices of the pumpkin. After drying for a few minutes, I wiped down the access paint and left a bit here and there for a shadowing effect.

How To Paint Artificial Pumpkins How To Paint Artificial Pumpkins

As most pumpkins are dirty, I added additional paint to the top to give it more definition and that dirty look. I added a bit of teal as most pumpkins have a hit of green near the stems.

How To Paint Artificial Pumpkins

Lastly, don’t forget to add a bit of paint to your stems too!

How To Paint Artificial Pumpkins

I followed the same technique for my orange pumpkin. See how perfectly orange it is? WAY too fake looking.

Much better, don’t you think?

Halloween Themed Halloween Charcuterie Board. a.k.a. SCARE-cuterie Board

Or is it a SCARE-BOO-terie board?!

Halloween Themed Halloween Charcuterie Board

Hello Love!

Today I’m going to show you a super cute Halloween sweets board that we whipped up to celebrate our favorite spooky day. Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays. This year we decided to have a family night in filled with pizza, scary movies, and a fun Halloween candy charcuterie board.

Halloween Themed Halloween Charcuterie Board

I went to the store and grabbed my family’s favorite treats along with some Halloween-themed candy to make the board extra cute and colorful. From Twizzlers to KitKats and Peeps, we’ve got a little bit of every candy to satisfy everyone.

Halloween Themed Halloween Charcuterie Board

While my youngest kiddo and husband carved a kitty cat pumpkin, I put together this yummy snack board.

I use both my small and large Happy Everything wooden boards with my favorite Halloween attachments (the ghost {I have the old version but HERE is the new design} and witch {also old and no longer available}) and it all turned out so cute. I also used some of my white ramekins to keep smaller candies a little easier to grab.

Halloween Themed Halloween Charcuterie Board

I’m not a huge fan of Peeps but the green Frankenstein heads and white ghosts are definitely my favorite part of the board. I also wanted to add a bit more salt, like popcorn, but my kids had eaten it all. HA!

Happy Halloween, everyone!

How To Hang Witches Hats From Porch

How To Hang Witches Hats From Porch

How To Hang Witches Hats From Porch

Hanging witch hats from your porch ceiling is a great way to add a magical whimsey to your Halloween porch decor. They’re very affordable and super easy to install. My son and I can show you how in just a few simple steps.

How To Hang Witches Hats From Porch

The first thing you’ll need is a package of witch hats. I got my 8-pack from Amazon and you can even find them discounted if you wait a little closer to the holiday or shop after Halloween and save even more for next year’s decor.

How To Hang Witches Hats From Porch

I ordered THIS PACK on October 28th and they arrived on October 30th, just in time for me to hang them for trick-or-treaters. Since it’s so late in the season, I save 40% off and got all 8 for only $5.99 on Prime. The price may have changed since I wrote this blog post but be sure to keep checking to see if they get discounted again.

How To Hang Witches Hats From Porch

Next up, you’ll need a few extra supplies. I use fishing line to hang my hats and command strips to hang them from the ceiling. You’ll also need some rubbing alcohol and cotton balls to clean the area you’re going to stick the command hooks from. You’re also going to need a needle to string your fishing line though the hat.

How To Hang Witches Hats From Porch

To hang your witch hats from porch you’ll need to:

  1. Thread the fishing line on the needle and knot the end. I double over my fishing line to have added weight to hold the witch hat down. They are super light and move easily in the wind.
  2. Thread it through the top of the hat and cut the needle off the end.
  3. Measure how long you want your witch hat to hang, then knot and cut off the extra line.
  4. Clean off the ceiling with rubbing alcohol where you’re going to attach the command hook and let dry.
  5. Attach adhesive to back of hook and let sit for 4-5 minutes to secure the bond.
  6. Hang command hook and then hang witch hat.
  7. Loop fishing line around hook multiple times to ensure the wind won’t blow them down.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post and if you hang witch hats from your porch next year, be sure to tag me in your posts!

Pumpkins After Dark: Cute Ways to Illuminate Your Halloween Front Porch

Hello Love!

Today I wanted to share with you my super cute Halloween front porch. Decorating my porch is one of my favorite things, and fixing it up for Halloween is always my favorite.

Pumpkins After Dark: Cute Ways to Illuminate Your Halloween Front Porch

I buy new corn stalks every year but everything else has been recycled over the past few years. I painted these faux pumpkins a few years ago to give them a more natural look and the metal luminaries and buckets came from the gift shop I owned years ago. They were collecting dust in my attic, so I threw them on my porch one year and have been doing it ever since.

Pumpkins After Dark: Cute Ways to Illuminate Your Halloween Front Porch

I use to buy real mums and other fall flowers but since it stays so warm here in Tennessee in the fall, they usually don’t last long. This year I decided to just buy faux floral stems for the metal buckets and they turned out great. You can totally tell they’re fake up close but from the road, no one will ever know.

Pumpkins After Dark: Cute Ways to Illuminate Your Halloween Front Porch

The cornstalks are always my favorite part of the porch. They just add so much height and texture. I absolutely love them.

Pumpkins After Dark

When it comes to lighting my porch for Halloween, I use three different types of lights.

First off, I adore these resin light-up pumpkins I’ve had for years. I’m pretty sure they came from Homegoods like 10-15 years ago and they’re still great. If I could find them again, I would buy more and line all my steps with them.

Here are some similar styles: HERE, HERE, and HERE.

Pumpkins After Dark

Second up is fairy lights. I love the simplicity of fairy lights, don’t you? For a few bucks, you can add so much whimsy.

Pumpkins After Dark

Lastly are my metal luminaries. They’re made to look like paper sandwich bags but these have lasted me years. I add battery-operated tea lights to them and they flicker and glow like real candles. They look so cute lining the stairway.

These particular ones are no longer available but THESE  and THESE are similar!

CRACK CINNAMON ROLLS

Crack Cinnamon Rolls. Here’s the famous TikTok cinnamon roll recipe with a twist. Add a bit of vanilla and cinnamon for breakfast perfection.

Jump to Recipe

Hello love!

I’m sure you’ve seen this amazing recipe floating around on the TikTok but today I wanted to share with you how I add a bit of a twist to this simple recipe.

My family has DIED over these cinnamon rolls and requests them all the time. They make regular old grocery store canned rolls taste like they are truly homemade. The way the heavy whipping cream makes the rolls puff up and make them ooey gooey in the middle is just ::chef’s kiss::.

By just adding three extra ingredients to your canned cinnamon rolls, you’ve got a warm gooey breakfast your whole family will love.

Why do I call them “crack cinnamon rolls”? No, there aren’t any illegal drugs in them BUT try them once, and you’ll be ADDICTED. You won’t want to make them the regular way again!

Best lint remover for clothes, sweaters, sheets, and more. This Evercare fabric shaver helps make my clothes look brand new in minutes!

Best lint remover for clothes

There aren’t too many things better than SWEATER WEATHER, AMIRIGHT?!

Cooler temps have finally hit the Tennessee Valley and I am here for it! I’ve been getting out all my sweaters from storage and even went a little shop crazy on Poshmark a few weeks ago buying up gently used JCrew pieces from Poshmark. Are you a Poshmark lover like me? I pretty much bought a whole new wardrobe there last year and have found some amazingly awesome classic pieces to fit my style.

I was able to grab this warm and thick JCrew sweater for only $10 and even though I knew it needed a bit of TLC, it was a great piece to have in my closet. I took it to my dry cleaner to have it laundered and then brought it home to de-fuzz. I love this small fabric shaver from Amazon and after just about 10 minutes of shaving, it looked brand new.

Here’s a before photo…

Best lint remover for clothes

And an after…

Best lint remover for clothes

What a difference, right?!

Here are some tips on how to use it.

  1. Lay your article of clothing on a flat surface and move the shaver in small circular motions. You can also put your hand behind the fabric to give it a little push to get closer to the blades.
  2. It took me about 25 minutes to shave the entire sweater so give yourself plenty of time.
  3. Yes, there are blades but I’ve never had it cut my skin or tear the fabric. Still, use with caution.
  4. Clean out the compartment every few minutes and pull any fabric collected around the blades out. (See photo below)
  5. Can be used on multiple types of fabric but be sure to test on a small area first.

Our Stay at Greystone Lodge in Gatlinburg, Tennessee

Our Stay at Greystone Lodge in Gatlinburg, Tennessee 2016 1512 Jenn Pennell

Our Stay at Greystone Lodge in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Gatlinburg, Tennesse is one of our favorite places to travel. Located about an hour from Knoxville, Tennessee, it’s a great place to get away for a weekend or even a quick day trip to visit The Great Smokey Mountains.

4 years ago, we took a fun ride up to Gatlinburg and I shared all the fun things we did in THIS BLOG POST. I go into detail on where we stayed, where we ate, and what activities we did all in a day. Be sure to check it out if you’re planning a trip!

We stayed at The Greystone Lodge On The River, in the Two-Room Family Suite Queen with Bunk. We had such an amazing time that we knew we would be back to stay there again. Here are some of our personal pictures of that room.

We traveled back to Gatlinburg this past week for a quick little girl’s trip during spring break and booked our stay again at The Greystone.

Peaceful Location

The location is one of the best parts of the hotel. Located across the street from both Ripley’s Aquarium and Anakeesta, it’s in the heart of the city without being on the main strip.

It’s located right on the river so you’ll love hearing the gentle sounds of the water below. Listen closely and you may even get to hear and see a duck or two. The cute ducks are another reason my girls love staying there.

Many Room Options

Since it was just 4 of us, we booked the double queen executive room and it was perfect for two adults and two kids. My girls were a little disappointed we didn’t get the family suite again but it was already booked. They loved having the bunk beds.

Free Complimentary Breakfast

I do wish I would have taken a photo of the free complimentary breakfast buffet they serve. They have everything from cereals, bagels, to eggs and biscuits and gravy and it’s all delicious. It’s a great perk when you’ve got a hungry family to feed in the morning and don’t want to wait in line for a table elsewhere.

There are many other amenities available like an outdoor swimming pool (open April-October), a fitness room, and complimentary parking.

With its breathtaking river views and walking distance to everything in downtown Gatlinburg, you can’t go wrong with at stay at The Greystone Lodge On The River.

This post and second stay were not sponsored. All opinions are my own.

Looking for a quick dish to whip up for tonight’s dinner? Try this easy TikTok Feta Bake with pasta, tomatoes, feta cheese, and seasonings!

TikTok Feta Bake

If you’ve been on TikTok or Instagram the past few months you’re sure to have seen this feta pasta dish in your feed. Since my middle child is a vegetarian, we thought we’d try this dish so we could all enjoy it.

With just a few simple ingredients, we had a delicious dish that everyone could enjoy. I found the recipe on Pinterest and we’ve made it twice in the past few weeks.

TikTok Feta Bake

With the current prices of groceries getting higher and higher, I loved that I could make it for under $15 and it was plenty for all of us to eat. Next time, I may try adding rotisserie chicken pieces into it for extra protein for us meat-eaters.

Here’s the recipe for this delicious TikTok Feta Bake:
