Before this project ever started, I already had a pair of Dooney & Bourke Disney Minnie ears picked out for our trip. They were truly classic, easy, and ready to go. But then I saw a pair of needlepoint Minnie ears on TikTok, and everything changed.
The moment I saw them, I knew I wanted to make my own.
What started as a simple accessory choice quickly turned into a full creative project. I decided to create handmade needlepoint Disney Minnie ears that would represent our entire Walt Disney World trip; Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios.
These ears became more than something to wear in the parks. They became part of the experience itself.

The Disney Parks Cross Stitch Pattern
The entire project began with this Disney parks cross stitch pattern, which instantly stood out to me because it features all four Walt Disney World parks:
- Magic Kingdom
- EPCOT
- Animal Kingdom
- Hollywood Studios

I loved that the design told a complete Disney World story rather than focusing on just one park. It made the ears feel like a celebration of the entire trip, not just a single day or experience.

Materials and Supplies
After purchasing the pattern, I gathered the rest of my supplies at Hobby Lobby. Everything needed for this project was easy to find, which makes this a great option even if you’re newer to needlepoint or crafting Disney ears.
Supplies I used:
- Embroidery floss in the colors listed in the pattern
- Needlepoint needles
- Minnie ear headband base
- Fabric and batting for finishing the ears
- Hot glue and sharp craft scissors
- Thread

How I Constructed the Minnie Ears
While stitching the design was very straightforward, turning the finished needlepoint into structured Minnie ears was the part I wanted to make sure I did correctly.
I followed The Nashville Needlepoint’s tutorial on her Substack page, which walks through the finishing process step by step. Her instructions made assembling the ears approachable and easy to understand, especially if you’ve never turned needlepoint into a wearable item before.
The tutorial covers shaping, padding, and attaching the ears so they sit properly and comfortably on the headband.

Wearing Handmade Minnie Ears at Disney World
Wearing handmade needlepoint Minnie ears inside the parks adds an extra layer of meaning to the experience. Every compliment sparked a conversation, and getting to say, “I made them,” never got old.
Each park represented on the ears tied back to memories from the trip; walking down Main Street U.S.A., spending time at EPCOT, exploring Animal Kingdom, and soaking in the energy of Hollywood Studios.
These handmade needlepoint Disney Minnie ears are one of my favorite creative projects to date. They combine crafting, Disney nostalgia, and personalization into one meaningful accessory.
