Decorating with Ohio State Needlepoint Ornaments

If you’re an Ohio State fan, you already understand how important it is to show off that Buckeye pride, especially around the holidays. I’ve been stitching Ohio State needlepoint ornaments, and they’ve quickly become some of my favorite seasonal pieces to decorate with. The best part? They’re versatile! Needlepoint ornaments don’t just belong on a Christmas tree! They can be displayed in creative ways all year long.
Here are some of my favorite ways to decorate with my Ohio State needlepoint ornaments:
Garland on the Mantel
String your ornaments together with a ribbon or garland and drape them across your mantel. It’s a festive nod to Ohio State while keeping your holiday decor personal and handmade. Pair them with greenery, twinkle lights, and maybe even some scarlet and gray ribbon for a spirited display.

A Dedicated Buckeye Tree
If you have a small Christmas tree in your living room, kitchen, or entryway, why not dedicate it to Ohio State ornaments? Needlepoint ornaments look amazing clustered together, and a tree decked out in scarlet and gray is perfect for football season through the holidays.
Displayed in a Bowl, Basket or Dish
Not every ornament has to hang! I love placing needlepoint ornaments in a pretty bowl, basket, or decorative dish on a coffee table, sideboard, or bookshelf. It’s a cozy, unexpected way to highlight your handiwork while making it easy for guests to admire up close.

Hung on Cabinet Knobs or Hooks
A simple but fun way to use ornaments year-round is to hang them from cabinet knobs, hooks, or even a bar cart handle. It gives little pops of Buckeye cheer in everyday spaces.

If you decorate with tiered trays, tuck a few Ohio State ornaments in with your seasonal pieces. They mix beautifully with mugs, greenery, or small signs and add a handmade touch that makes the whole display feel special.
