There’s something magical about thrifting. You just never know what treasures you’ll stumble upon. On my latest trip, tucked between shelves of mismatched dishes and vases, I found the sweetest little glass heart container. It instantly reminded me of the kind of candy dishes my grandparents always had sitting out, filled to the brim with brightly wrapped sweets.

Of course, the first thing I thought of was those classic strawberry candies. You know the ones, the shiny red wrappers with little green tops, meant to look just like strawberries. They always seemed to appear in candy dishes, waiting for curious little hands to grab one. I don’t even remember anyone actually buying them, yet somehow every home had them.

Filling my thrifted glass heart with those candies felt like a small but meaningful way to bring back that sense of nostalgia. It’s funny how something as simple as a candy dish can carry so much memory. Family gatherings, visits with grandparents, and the little joys of sneaking “just one more.”
Now it sits in my living room, a sweet reminder that home doesn’t have to be filled with brand-new things. Sometimes it’s the thrifted finds, paired with a touch of nostalgia, that bring the most warmth.

If you ever come across a pretty glass container while thrifting, don’t pass it by. Fill it with something simple, something sweet, and something that makes you smile.
