How I Created A Perfectly Organized Master Bedroom Closet
Hello Love!
A few years ago, my husband created my DREAM closet for my Christmas present (you can read that post here) and while it’s gone through many changes since then, it’s still my favorite room in the house.
My cousin and I recently decided to do a major purge and start sizing down for a more simplistic wardrobe. Less trendy, more classic. While she’s going for more of a French fashion vibe, I’m heading back to my favorite preppy, classic JCrew style and pulling most of my inspiration from my favorite blogger, Sarah Vickers Patrick aka Classy Girls Wear Pearls.
I’ve never been one to wear super trendy pieces but I am being more conscious about what I bring into this space. Instead of buying cheap shirts from Target that, let’s be honest, don’t last a second season, I’m investing in better pieces that will still look great three+ years down the line.
It took me an entire weekend to purge and organize this space and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. It brings me so much joy to walk into this room every day.
Let me walk you through a few things about how I created this space:
First up, I had to un-attach myself to certain things in order to get rid of them. Thinking about how much I paid for something really held me back but I had to overcome that and realize if I wasn’t using it, then I wasn’t enjoying it.
I brought every piece of clothing I had into this space. This closet was FULL before but now EVERYTHING is in here. I no longer have tubs of off-season apparel in my attic AND I brought everything from my chest of drawers in my bedroom in there. Now when it’s time to get dressed, everything I need is in here and I’m not going back and forth. I got rid of a lot of shoes and switched them over to the shelving on the opposite side. This left enough space to add baskets to organize my undergarments, socks, and pajamas. As I said, my entire wardrobe is now in this room. 🙌🏻
Organization is key to keeping this room flowing. Everything has a home and I have to be sure to put it back where it belongs when I’m done with it. I grabbed my gorgeous white Longaberger baskets to keep everything contained but beautiful to look at.
If you have room or wall space for a little home decor, add it! I’m currently redoing my home office so I moved my beloved framed shopping bags here and added a cute rug to brighten up the space even more.
I really couldn’t be happier with how the space turned out and I LOVE that everything I own is in this one room. I hope you enjoyed this post on how I created a perfectly organized master bedroom closet.
