Summer break is officially here and I'm excited to get to chat with you on a more regular basis! I've had a bit of re-branding going on the past few weeks and I'm excited that my new blog design has finally launched, my newsletter is ready to go, and all the content goodness that I've had stored in my brain will make it to you very soon! I have a few months of content planned out and I'm hoping you love it all!

If you ever have anything you want me to cover here on Shaw Avenue, just let me know in the comments below!

Today though I wanted to chat with you about my new favorite website, Poshmark. I have always been a bargain hunter and love finding deals at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, eBay, and all my local thrift shops. EBay has been a love of mine since it started and it's been my go-to place to grab great deals on all my favorite designer clothes, but when my cousin Angela Lanter introduced me to Poshmark, I was hooked! I've been finding INCREDIBLE deals on everything from my beloved Lilly Pulitzer to Dooney & Bourke purses.

I've been able to snag some amazing deals through Poshmark (and sell some things to help my bank account out) so today I thought I would share some of my favorite tips and tricks to finding the best deals on the site!
  1. Using the app makes finding and purchasing 100 times easier than using the desktop.
  2. If you're on a budget, use filters when searching. It's nice to narrow down price limits so you  can make sure to not over spend. I always love to search for items under $25.
  3. Always "like" an item that you want to keep you eye on, not only to save it so you can keep checking it, BUT sellers also see that you've liked it and may offer you an additional discount on both the item and shipping! It doesn't hurt to go ahead and hit that "bundle" button while you're at it. 😉
  4. Always negotiate! You're allowed to put in an offer on any item that you're interested in, which is GREAT! Just be kind though. A seller is more likely to work with you if you're not trying to take advantage.
  5. Be patient. This is a hard one for me because I have a real fear of missing a good deal. If the item you've got your eye on doesn't have a lot of likes or comments, the seller may drop the price and then you can negotiate it a little further!
If you have any other tips and tricks you use to score great deals on Poshmark, I would love to know them! Drop them in the comments below!

5 tips and tricks to keep your car clean everyday!

Tuesday, May 21, 2019

I was the worlds WORST about keeping my car clean so a few months ago my husband bought me a monthly pass to our local car wash and it's seriously one of the best things he's ever done for me. For $20 a month I can take my car through the wash every day and we've been so much better about keeping it in tip-top shape. Here's 5 tips and tricks we use to keep our car clean and spiffy!

1. Grab a monthly membership at your local wash!
We don't use it every single day but we try to go at least three times a week to clean off the dirt and get rid of any trash that's been collected over a few days. We always go after school so each kid can take a task and we can get it cleaned within 5 minutes. This also means that mom and dad aren't the ones cleaning up after the kiddos and all their messes.
We use our Thieves wipes once a week to clean up any beverage spills, fingerprints, and dirt on hard surfaces. We each grab a wipe and clean our own sides.
This trick is my FAVORITE! After yellow pollen COVERED my car the first few weeks of Spring, I ran to the store and picked up a box of swiffers to keep in the car. I pretty much dust my dashboard daily as I'm sitting in the school car line.
Our sweet little car wash gifted us a few microfiber towels at Christmas time and I keep them in my glovebox to keep my windows clean. They help keep that inside film off the windows so they're great to keep handy.

I know you're thinking why would i keep this in my car? Well, the handy dandy vacuums that the car washes have just are unable to grab every piece to junk that gets caught in the car's carpet so we use this scrubbing brush to help loosen anything that might get stuck for the vacuum to pick up!
And that's it! My 5 simple tips and tricks to keep this momma of 3 sane and her car clutter-free!

If you've got a tip I need to try, feel free to leave it in the comments below!

Hello Love!
Mom life is hard y'all.
I always thought that the kids early stages of life would be the hardest but this growing up stuff is for the birds.  Now, don't get me wrong, the days of diaper bags and double strollers with a "leash" backpack for the oldest was by no means a piece of cake, but running the kids here and there and the feeding them and homework and playdates and practices and feeding them and the constant buying of new shoes and the feeding them.....ok, you get the picture.
Then there are these times.  The times when we get to stop and just love on them and treat them.  These kiddos have been raised to cherish all the things, big and little.   There's no need to constantly buy them the newest gadget or load the playroom full of crap.  A simple trip to get a sno cone is sometimes all that is needed.
We have a few sno cone shops in our little town but this one is by far our favorite.  The shaved ice is simply dreamy.   It's incredibly smooth and soft and i've never had anything like it.  I am 100% a "tiger's blood" fan but my kids change it up every time we go.  Kiwi, bubble gum, wild thing (whatever that is); it's always something new for them.

Do you have a favorite shaved ice flavor that i need to try?  Do you have a Pelican's Snoballs near you?
