Cheerful Spring Farmhouse Dining Room

Hello Love!
Spring Break is officially over (insert tears) but I am so thankful for a week off with my little family and the good it did for this homebody's soul.
I started off the week by doing a little rearranging throughout the house.  I'm on this "simplicity" kick where I just want to get rid of all the junk that I haven't used in the past year or two.  While deep cleaning my floors I moved this little corner hutch out of the room and fell in love with it being gone.  I've had this piece for a few years now and decided I didn't need two curios in my kitchen/dining area.  I was tempted to sell it because it really doesn't fit anywhere in my house and knew my hubs would gripe about storing it in the attic.  I left it sitting in the den all week but finally decided that I just couldn't part with it.  I moved it back into it's home this afternoon and knew instantly that that's where it needed to stay.  It's a little cramped, but I still just love it.
I found all these A M A Z I N G Easter goodies in the dollar section at Target a few weeks ago and knew the kiddos would love the table decorated for Spring.  Now that hopefully the winter gloom is gone for good, it was time to get it decorated.  I pulled out my trusty aqua chargers and classic white dishes and it was basically done.  I basically use the same pieces for every season and I don't see any problem with it.  😁
In my old house, the kitchen colors were black and red (ugh, YUCK) so when we build the new house I knew I wanted to go with more neutrals with just pops of color.  The basic motif is cream and brown with aqua/turquoise thrown in.  When I started shopping for decor at my local antique stores I knew the blue mason jars were just the touch i needed throughout the space.  Then Pyrex became popular again and I started collecting the aqua Butterprint pieces.
They are perfection.
Hope you enjoyed this little peek at our dining space!

How to style a LuLaRoe Carly

Friday, March 17, 2017

Hello Love!
I hope you aren't getting tired of my LuLaRoe posts because they aren't stopping any time soon. 😁
You've seen me post the Carly dress a few times, here and here, and it's definitely my favorite LLR style. The versatility of this dress is really it's greatest feature.  I love how it can be worn straight down or tied in various ways.  I found many different tutorials on Pinterest that showed me how to style it and it gives it such personality!
This lovely dress is my newest purchase and I could't wait any longer to wear it.  This awful cold snap has been a big huge bummer for our Spring Break so I broke out my favorite long sweater and blue jeans and went to town!  I absolutely LOVE how this look came together!

Hello Love!
If you've been following me any length of time, you already know about my love affair with LuLaRoe.   I've never met a LuLa I didn't like and when I find a print that I love, I get so excited  Did you know there are only 5,000 pieces made of every print made?
That's it.  5,000!
After they're split up between all the consultants (approx. 70,000 of them), your chances of seeing the print twice is uncommon.  When I fall for a piece there's no second chance to buy it. There's no going back the next day and it being there, because someone else loves probably loves it too.  Man, those LuLa marketers are GENIUSES!
This post is all about the Unicorn.
Wait, hold up.
How about those unicorn head bands?!  AREN'T THEY THE BEST?!  I met Annie from Brooklyn Owl at Americasmart this year and she gave me these horns for my girls.  My girls love them so much that my little one even sleeps in it!
Ok, back to LLR.  A unicorn piece is what they call their most sought after pieces. They're extra special prints that everyone's hunting for.  The pieces here are our unicorns.
My youngest, Cal, is BIG TIME into big cats right now and RJ is all about outer space.  I love these little dresses so much and that they can be worn all year long.
My piece? Well, I've never seen any other item with this dandelion print in color.  I'm a frequent eBay shopper and have only seen this pattern in black & white.  I'm so glad I was able to snatch it up!

If you're new to LuLaRoe and would love to check out their pieces I've got two gals that would be more than happy to help you out.
My girl Ashley McCoy and I worked at good ol' AE back in the day and is my go-to local girl.  She's the one I blame for starting this addiction.
My second LuLa girl is Lisa Rossiter.  She collaborated with me here at Shaw Avenue and I just love her. I'm so very thankful for our sweet friendship.

As always, I'm here for any questions or comments that you may have!

The perfect Spring dress

Hello Love!

The daffodils are blooming, the grass is getting greener, our allergies are all out of whack....
yes, S P R I N G is here! It's almost time to bring out the shorts, flip flops, and those pale legs.
With Easter around the corner is time to start looking for that perfect Easter dress.  For the past few years my dress of choice has been a Lilly Pulitzer, but when I stumbled upon this beautiful scalloped number from Duffield Lane, I knew it was the one! The fabric is a heavy quality and there's a bra-lining, which I love. It comes in both navy & this marvelous mint color.

Yesterday I wrote in this Instagram post about my love/hate relationship with the sun.  Last year I had a pre-cancerous mole deep shaved and now I'm very careful with my skin.  I would love to have that gorgeous summer glow all year long but I'm not risking my skin again.  My dear friend and Rodan + Fields rep Katie gave me their Foaming Sunless Tan to try and I can definitely tell a difference, even with just two applications.  Contact my girl Katie here if you'd like to try it!
